rain on me

After close to 2 years of working, i have realised the following:

Working has made me a 1000 times more responsible than when i was in school.

Working has forced me to deal with difficult people, even when i don't like it.

Working has forced me to become more acquainted with microsoft excel and access (yeah i know i keep using the word 'forced', but under ordinary circumstances, the sad thing is that i'd never touch anything other than microsoft word).

Even when you fall ill, work will never disappear, unlike schoolwork!

And that is why i still dream of the time when i can quit without any financial worries, and fully concentrate on being a full time homemaker and mother when the kids come. Yup, i'm such a traditionalist. Let my man bring home the bread, man!

And till that day comes...i'll grit my teeth and bear with it.

*Our block is where the second green crane is from the right.

To think that just less than a year ago, it was all green fields and colonies of crickets.

The humans are invading nature yet again!

Been so tied up with work while semi-planning for the wedding that I haven't had the time or energy to blog.

A division event has just gone past today, so whew! Even though I am extremely embarrassed about my untechno-savviness. I must live up to the notion of Gen Y, and master excel!...among many other programmes which I'm a total idiot at. So much for taking arts all the way since the fiasco of economics in JC, and managing to avoid any subject/module vaguely related to or involving any usage of figures/stats/computer programme beyond microsoft word. It all catches up with you eventually once you start work.

Just need to be secretary and minute-taker for two more monthly meetings, and settle the logistics for another event in June, before I can take a breather from all the secondary tasks and concentrate on planning the wedding for the following 3 months after. There's still so much that isn't settled, and I'm not exactly the most organised person. Thank God that nathan is always here to soothe and calm me, and settle stuff whenever I get too stressed. I'm turning frigid! I'm only turning 24!

So for now, I'll have a trial makeup session on 27 May for the tentative look I'd like for my wedding before the photoshoot on 30 Jun. Need to figure out how to rid myself of my haggard look before the shoot..somehow. Sigh would a good haircut and hair dye be enough? I have a sick feeling that I'm ageing faster than nathan, even though he's growing faster than me sideways. :)

I also thank God that He's actually made available to us so many people with their many talents, to help us with the wedding. Even though my ultimate wish would have been to hold a small and simple celebration, in some place green and gardeny with a temperate climate, there are still family members on his side, including my dear husband-to-be, who would prefer what we are doing in the end, with the church wedding and dinner. Well, I'm terrible at speeches. I have stage fright. So I'll just sit pretty on the big day and smile and wave.

We've also been monitoring the growth of our punggol flat. It currently stands at 4th level (i think), the last we checked two weeks ago. Just 2 more years to go and I can play the housewife and interior designer. So exciting!

Oh, and an update on the ex-bridal studio whom we took to small claims tribunal. We lost. The court's decision was to go strictly by law, and since we signed the contract with the studio in the first place, the onus was on us to honour the contract (even if they did acknowledge that the studio had provided us with bad service). This conclusion - after a total of 5 mediation sessions (where the owner claimed MC on 3 sessions) and a hearing that lasted more than 2 hours. Needless to say, I'm extremely disillusioned, but the law is the law. I learned a bitter lesson, and will never sign a contract and hard-earned money away till I've thought it over for at least a day in future. And do RESEARCH on all bridal forums before exploring business with any bridal vendor. They can be extremely accurate. I'm so thankful that the current bridal studio I'm with is giving me such a fantastic experience.
